Staying at the Ramada Kamloops places you in the heart of an emerging wine region in British Columbia. Thompson Valley wineries have earned many awards for their wines grown in mineral-rich soil. Warm and sunny days and cool nights bring out the best in growers' grapes. These wineries have tasting rooms, and they are only a short trip from the hotel.

Harper's Trail  2761 Shuswap Rd.

This estate winery takes its name from the pioneer rancher Thaddeus Harper. Visitors enter a thriving landscape watered by a natural spring. Located very close to Kamloops on the banks of the South Thompson River, the vineyard produces wines known for crisp acidity. The venue is pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Tourists can choose from wines like Gamay noir, Chardonnay, sparkling Chardonnay, pinot noir, and a variety of Rieslings.

Monte Creek Ranch Winery 2420 Miner's Bluff Rd.

This winery is only a 10-minute drive from Kamloops. In addition to sampling wines in the tasting room, visitors can shop for local products and dine at the Terrace Restaurant in the summer. Monte Creek Ranch makes impressive red and white blends as well as riesling, merlot, Chardonnay reserve, and cabernet sauvignon reserve.

Privato Vineyard and Winery 5505 Westsyde Rd.

The husband and wife team operating this winery have invested years in perfecting their small-batch wines. Their efforts have resulted in numerous awards, like the All Canadian Wine Double Gold for their 2015 Woodward Collection Tesoro Pinot Noir and 2014 Grande Reserve Pinot Noir. Located along the North Thompson River, the winery has a picnic area and tasting room within a lovely natural setting. The place is renowned for premium single-vineyard Burgundy wines. Facilities are wheelchair accessible and pet and child friendly.

Sagewood Winery 589 Meadow Lark Rd.

This boutique winery is the source of many award-winning wines. Dog-lovers will appreciate the care that went into a wine named after the vineyard's guard dog Kayla. The Kayla Traditional Sparkling 2016 is a Brut that earned gold medals. The Dernier Red Late Harvest 2016 won a bronze medal as a delicate desert wine. Other wines include Concord sparkling, pinot noir, and Essenzia Rose that blends gewurztraminer, gamay, and pinot noir.
